Do event attendees need Calendar accounts to receive and respond to invitations?

Event attendees do not need an Calendar account to receive and respond to invitations.

Event invitations are sent to the attendee's email address, and the attendee can accept, accept as tentative, or decline an invitation using the buttons included in the email message.
